SI(AT LIGH 20 TO THE .:'! . '. Two years ago. the first All Girl Skate Jam (AGSJ) made history when it kicked off in San Diego. Girls from all over the United States and Canada turned out and shredded up the street and vert courses. Since then. their skill and determination have only continued to grow. . The motto of AGSJ is "All Ages, All Abilities, own limits as they repeatedly broke their previous records. The next AGSJ will take place at the VANS Skatepark in Orange, California, on September 12.1999. This jam will also include a pool division along with the usual street. mini and vert ramp. In November, the Hawaiians will be hosting AGSJ at the VANS Triple Crown of Surfing on Oahu. reconnecting the bond between surfing and skating. As for the future plans of AGSJ, Patty intents to take it to an All Girls. Skaters range from ages 5 to 40. from beginners to professionals. Now that they have an event of their own. more girls from more places will have the opportunity to skate and participate. As Patty Segovia. AGSJ mastermind, explains it. "It's a case of out of sight out of mind: if girls don't see each other skating there will be no progression," Holding skate jams throughout the country. Patty is passionate about to bringing these skaters into the public limelight. The second AGSJ took place last May at Skaters Island in Newport. Rhode Island. The event was all about women pushing their international level in 2000. "We'll most likely add Australia and Brazil to our list and then, who knows, maybe even the Olympics!" These skateboarders are emerging from the shadows of professional (male) skaters.
