burkina faso Desertification doesn't just mean more sand,
it means that parts of the earth are dying. The degradation of our dryland ecosystems through global warming,
overgrazing and poor irrigation practices is a real threat to the livelihood of millions of people around the world.
Especially in third world countries where many people must grow their own food, desertification means the land doesn't produce and people go hungry. It's really about how we treat the earth-and with nearly a quarter of the planet's landmass in over 100 countries already affected-
the future is looking dry. -Aaron Clark
