letters to the ed itor:: Shell in Pakistan I am a Biology undergrad from the University of Alberta in CANADA. I just wanted to thank you for this wonderful magazine that you created. I look forward especially to the "Letter"-it almost always inspires me to reach out and explore. My current situation is such that I am unable to live my life as I would like just now, and I use your magazine help me keep my ideals free of the commercial clutter of the every day rat race, and to remember what really matters in life. I am not afraid of danger either-I am just afraid of not living. Thanks again. "EI oceano de mi amistad no tiene una orilla" EIJuavo Alberta, Canada ps: I tell everyone that I know about blue, but I am only one person. There is a large market up here in CANADA for blue' I first r.ead the "Letter" in the Columbia issue around the time of 9/11's tragic events. When I read it the first time I got chills thinking about'Robert'Young Pelton's statement, "I am not afraid of danger ... " in light of ,the threats of bioterrorism and others that face us daily here in New York. When I reread it a second time weeks later, I saw it in a different light. Pelton's saying, "I am not afraid of danger, I am afraid of living miserably." gives me courage in a different way now. When I think of so many soldiers going off to war it gives me courage to think of them fearlessly facing danger, to fight for the right to live in a democratic world. A free world. And all of us face that danger now. Thanks. S. Boodel New York, NY It has been my greatest pleasure to write you this letter.
