KASBAHS Throughout the Moroccan countryside, baked earth kasbahs dominate the landscape-a reminder of an era when tribal feuds and banditry were the norm. These imposing structures, huge and heavily fortified, were designed to protect an entire tribe from invaders. Built out of clay and earth, the seemingly indestructible kasbahs gradually crumble and decay over time.
