CAPES THAT PULSATE WITH PRI MAL RHYTH MS. SAVAGE e: 1 1-SELF-TITLED (Some Records) With a punky, poppy sensi bility, Errortype distinguish themselves from the host of other iiber-hip East Village alternative outfits because they don't take themselves so utterly seriously. Thank god. While we've had just about our gullet's full of Eddie Vedder's carefully disheveled Jesus pose, Errortype offers up that same crush ing assault of rabid guitar. air-tight rhythm = = ====== section and tasty tune crafting without all the proselytizing. In the town of Ronda he heard can tador El Nino de Ronda and wizard-fingered guitar man Carretero. So taken was he by the unadorned passion of this gypsy tradition. he recorded them live that balmy evening in a local bodega. These intimate recordings. digi tally restored and including the original com prehensive liner notes. document the stark aesthetic and potent drama of unadorned. authentic flamenco. From dole ful purrs to thrilling trills. cantador El Nino de Ronda demonstrates his vast vocal range most profoundly on ·Sagrario Montes: while the laser quick fret runs of Carretero pervade the entire evening's performance. This is a must for any self-respecting flamenco gourmet. :zl _ •••• •• 1 I I Fl..lLLTa.T
