RINCON
Rincon is probably one of the most famous right point breaks in the world. Situated just south of Santa Barba.ra, Rincon is a very long wave that is borderline perfect. Sometimes it actually is. The only problem with this world- calil;>er surf spot is that it needs a north swell to make it hap· pen. The summer months see little action over one foot- the cruel result of the just-offshore Channel Islands, central California's lead blocker for all summer swells. I have fond memories of late nights in Santa Barbara, trying to figure out a way of blowing up said islands. For surf reports check out www.nevsurfboard.com/ cweather.htm. Rincon sits right on Highway 101 . From Santa Barbara head south for about 20 minutes. Take the Bates Road exit. The parking lot is right there.
