Rethink how you live your life. Don't always look for a packaged ending. Walk out your door without a plan, enjoy your self, then come back and write down your memories. If you're looking for adventure, it might be withi'n your own state, your own town, your own city. Adventure, to me, is not walking in the woods. Adventure has people connected to it. If you get into the culture of a place and off the beaten track, it can be an adventure. YOU SURVIVED A PLANE CRASH AND SEVERAL DANGEROUS ENCOUNTERS THAT COULD HAVE LED TO YOUR DEMISE. WHAT GOT YOU THROUGH THOSE EXPERIENCES? You learn to keep your antenna up as far as what is dangerous and what is potentially life-threatening. You learn to dig into your bag of tricks and come up with the answer to get you through a certain situa tion. Calmness and a sense of humor can get you through a lot. If you run around like a chicken with its head cut off, you're in trouble. If you're doing what you like to do and what you're good at, and you're enjoying yourself, you try to turn fear into action. You must attack life's dilemmas instead of running from them, which forces you to come up with a solution. WHAT IS THE MOST DANGEROUS THING IN THE WORLD? Ignorance. Parents, the government and laws keep us safely strapped in, complete with warning labels. Two hundred years ago, life was an adventure. Aside from updating Dangerous Places which is a never-ending task, I'm working on a junior version for kids called The Indiana Jones Survival and Adventure Guide. At the boys' school I attended in Manitoba I was taught how to endure bliz zards, how to hunt, and how to run rivers, but these are not things I use in my daily life today. Kids today need to learn that survival is in your head and [they need to learn] how to uti lize their natural instincts to deal with fear and dangerous situations. IS THERE AN ADVENTUROUS GOAL YOU HAVEN'T achieved yet? I don't really set goals. If you climb a mountain, when you get to the top you'll see there's another range of mountains ahead of you that are twice as high.
