Ski Bowl tends to get overshadowed by its larger neighbors, but don't let size fool you, this mountain has been called "the best lift-accessible terrain on Mt Hood.' Beware: its season is shorter than Meadows or Timberline, so show up before mid-April. SPECIAL NOTES: Meadows has diverse, fun terrain with many natural hips and quarter pipes. Only 67 miles from Portland, it seems to have its own micro-climate thing going: it is often clear when the rest of the mountain is foggy, or foggy when the rest of the mountain is clear. It is a little over an hours drive from Portland, and hosts all kinds of cool contests throughout the spring. The best of these events is Vegetate-a multi-day, multi-discipline contest benefiting native wildflowers-that happens April 8-11th, 1999. Anthony Lakes has been a popular destination for Oregon's hardcore snowlovers for many years.
